Description
A pair of vintage carved wood deer sculptures, showcasing a remarkable presence with their life-sized dimensions and expressive forms. Crafted from wood, these sculptures capture the essence of their subjects through the detailed carving of antlers and limbs, with each piece displaying naturalistic features that hint at a rustic charm. The wood exhibits a rich, dark grain that has aged gracefully, contributing to a patina that speaks of time and weathering. The standing figure, notably taller, has endured the years with visible cracks and splits, particularly along its neck and body, while the seated deer shows wear consistent with age, including surface abrasions and chipping. These imperfections add character, narrating a history of the elements they have weathered. Despite these signs of wear, both figures remain structurally sound, though they would benefit from restorative care to stabilize and preserve their intricate details. With their substantial size and evocative craftsmanship, these sculptures hold a commanding presence that would complement a variety of settings. Their aged surface and distinctive patina provide a testament to their vintage origins, offering insight into the artistry and materials of their time.
