Description

Crafted from richly grained wood, this vintage set of two carved abstract figures presents a striking example of mid-20th century folk art. Each figure, standing at 7 inches tall, showcases a unique character defined by minimalist forms and expressive features. The wood displays a deep, natural patina, suggesting careful preservation over time. Subtle surface scuffs and slight edge wear indicate gentle handling consistent with age, without detracting from their structural integrity or aesthetic appeal. The figures are characterized by their simplified, geometric shapes and distinctively carved facial features, with inlaid elements subtly accentuating their eyes. The taller figure stands with elongated limbs, suggesting a poised, contemplative stance, while the shorter figure adopts a more seated, compact posture. The grain of the wood enhances the figures' organic silhouettes, adding depth and texture to their smooth surfaces. These abstract figures exemplify the artistry of carving, where form and emotion are distilled into simple, yet evocative lines. Their handcrafted nature and patina serve as a testament to their vintage origins, making them a noteworthy addition for collectors of folk and abstract art.
