Karl Springer (1931–1991) was a Berlin-born designer who moved to New York in 1957. He began with decorative leather accessories before developing a furniture collection known for bold, simplified shapes and carefully worked surfaces. Lacquer, leather and Lucite were among the materials he explored with specialist craftspeople. His tables, desks and lighting bring a sculptural quality and a touch of glamour to an interior.
