Description
A vintage woven rattan Nantucket basket characterized by its robust yet elegant form and original rattan finish. The basket displays a warm, even patina that speaks to its age and careful use, enhancing its rich, natural color. The weaving is tight and consistent, demonstrating skilled craftsmanship, with no visible repairs or losses, maintaining its structural integrity. The handle, crafted from the same rattan material, arches gracefully over the basket and is attached with classic wooden pegs, showcasing thoughtful design and functionality. Despite minor surface wear and slight scuffing on the handle, typical for vintage rattan, the piece remains visually appealing and functionally sound. The finely woven texture creates a pleasing tactile experience, while the round, reinforced rim provides additional durability. Standing at 12 inches in height, with a width of 9.25 inches and a depth of 7.5 inches, the basket is well-proportioned for a variety of uses. Its classic Nantucket style, combined with the patina and craftsmanship, makes it a notable example of vintage rattan work. This piece would be a valuable addition to any collection of traditional American crafts or vintage woven items.
