Description

A vintage sculpture in wood with bronze detailing captures the grace and elegance of a ballerina, rendered in the style of Degas. The figure, posed en pointe with an extended leg and outstretched arms, showcases the fluid motion synonymous with ballet. The wood, likely walnut, displays a warm, rich grain that accentuates the dancer’s elongated limbs and torso. The bronze tutu and headpiece add a textural contrast, their patina suggesting a thoughtful aging process that complements the natural tones of the wood. Resting on a polished marble base, the sculpture stands with balanced poise, offering a sturdy foundation that underscores the delicate balance of the ballerina. The marble exhibits minor surface wear, indicative of careful display over the years. The overall condition is very good, with the original finish of the wood well-preserved, showcasing a patina that speaks to both the care and the age of the piece. This sculpture, standing at over 34 inches, is a testament to both craftsmanship and artistic homage, capturing the timeless beauty of a dancer in mid-performance, while nodding to Degas' celebrated exploration of movement. The interplay of materials and textures invites the viewer to appreciate the artistry from every angle.
