Description
Designed by the legendary Wendell Castle, the "Molar" chair is an undisputed masterpiece of Space Age design and biomorphic form. Crafted from high-gloss reinforced fiberglass, this iconic seat bridges the gap between functional furniture and fine art sculpture. Its striking, organic silhouette—reminiscent of a molar tooth—reflects the bold experimentation of the late 1960s, offering a playful yet sophisticated aesthetic that remains a favorite among interior designers and museum curators alike. The seamless, fluid construction and luminous white finish make it a commanding focal point for any gallery-style living room or minimalist interior. This substantial piece measures 32.5 inches wide and 25.5 inches in total height, with a 16.5-inch seat depth and a 14-inch front seat height. It is in great vintage condition, featuring its original glossy finish. Minor scuffs and superficial blemishes appropriate to its age and use are present, serving as a subtle patina that authenticates its mid-century heritage. A rare opportunity to own a piece of American design history, this charismatic chair is a must-have for serious collectors of Wendell Castle and Pop Art-inspired decor.
