Description

A vintage patinated metal hippo sculpture rendered in cast stone, this whimsical piece presents a charming and stylized form that captures the essence of its subject. The hippo's rounded contours and simplified details evoke a sense of both playfulness and solidity. The stone material exhibits a soft, natural patina with varied grey tones, adding depth and character to the surface. Upon close inspection, the hippo displays minor surface weathering, typical of its age, with small chips and light abrasions noticeable at the edges. These subtle imperfections enhance the sculpture's vintage appeal without compromising its structural integrity. The rounded body and delicately carved features, such as the pronounced eyes and subtle folds along the neck, demonstrate a balance between form and texture. Measuring 20.25 inches in width, 9.25 inches in height, and 7.75 inches in depth, this piece is substantial yet manageable, suitable for a variety of display settings. Its condition is very good, with no significant repairs or damage. This hippo sculpture is a delightful example of mid-20th-century decorative art, offering both a playful aesthetic and historical resonance.
