Description

A vintage painted metal cat doorstop, likely mid-20th century, showcases charming artistry and functional design. Crafted from solid metal, the piece depicts a reclining cat with a detailed, textured coat. The surface bears an aged patina, with visible paint loss throughout, revealing a warm, underlying metal that adds character and testament to its age. The original paint palette, predominantly in muted greys and creams, subtly enhances the cat's lifelike features, while a hint of pink on the ears and a bow around its neck adds a touch of whimsy. The doorstop's form is robust and structurally sound, with no evidence of repairs. Minor scratches and scuffs are consistent with its vintage nature, yet these marks do not detract from its overall visual appeal. The cat's expressive eyes, intricately painted, draw the viewer's gaze, offering a sense of personality and presence. Measuring 10.75 inches in width, 5.75 inches in height, and 5.25 inches in depth, its dimensions make it both a practical and decorative object. This doorstop serves as a charming example of mid-century decorative arts, ideal for collectors of vintage home accessories or cat enthusiasts seeking a characterful piece with historical allure.
