Description

A vintage monumental centaur sculpture crafted from cork, wood, and metal, showcasing an intriguing blend of materials and artistry. The centaur, poised mid-motion, is constructed primarily from cork, with the surface displaying age-appropriate wear, including visible cracking that adds to its historical charm. The artist has achieved a dynamic sense of movement, with limbs and tail meticulously detailed, suggesting a lively, almost playful demeanor. The sculpture is mounted on a substantial wooden base, which shows minor scuffs and wear consistent with its age, yet remains structurally sound. The base is adorned with a metal plaque and edged with a subtle metallic rope motif, highlighting the piece's overall craftsmanship. The cork material has developed a rich patina over time, lending warmth and depth to the composition. Standing at 58 inches tall, this imposing figure commands attention and invites contemplation. The representation of the centaur, a mythological creature known for its dual nature, is both whimsical and thought-provoking, making it a captivating focal point in any collection.
