Description

The vintage Minton Majolica oyster plate, crafted from ceramic, exemplifies the opulent artistry of the late 19th to early 20th century. Bearing the unmistakable hallmark of Minton, this piece features a vibrant glaze that remains strikingly vivid. The plate's design is characterized by six distinct oyster wells, alternating in soft pink and creamy white hues, encircling a central well glazed in a rich emerald green. Delicate leaf motifs in a pale yellow accentuate the divisions between the wells, adding to its decorative allure. The original glaze exhibits minor age-appropriate crazing, a testament to its vintage nature, while maintaining its overall vibrancy. Light wear along the edges suggests careful handling over the years, and the plate remains structurally sound with no visible chips or cracks. The intricate detailing and bold color palette are consistent with Minton's celebrated Majolica ware, known for its exuberant use of color and elaborate designs. Measuring 9.25 inches in diameter and 0.75 inches in height, the plate's proportions are both functional and decorative, making it a captivating centerpiece. The quality of craftsmanship and design speaks to Minton's legacy in ceramic artistry, offering a glimpse into the luxurious dining aesthetics of its time.
