Description
A vibrant example of vintage majolica, this ceramic plate features an intricate leaf and blossom design, showcasing the artistry typical of late 19th to early 20th-century majolica ware. The plate's surface is adorned with rich, hand-painted colors: a bold turquoise background sets the stage for a lively composition of green grape leaves, clusters of purple grapes, deep rust-brown foliage, and white blossoms. The artisanal quality is evident in the detailed veins of the leaves and the delicately rendered grape clusters, all accentuated by the glossy majolica glaze. The plate measures 8.75 inches in diameter and is in very good condition, retaining its original glaze. It exhibits minor, age-appropriate crazing, which adds to its vintage charm, while the rim shows slight wear consistent with careful use over the years. Notably, there are no chips or cracks, indicating a history of careful preservation. The raised relief design, a hallmark of majolica, offers a tactile dimension to the piece, enhancing its decorative appeal. This plate is a collectible item that exemplifies the exuberant color palette and natural motifs favored in majolica ceramics, making it a striking display piece for those who appreciate intricate craftsmanship and historical ceramics.
