Description
This exquisite Chinoiserie side table is a masterful example of mid-century decorative art, showcasing the celebrated hand-painted vignettes of artist Katharine Hemick. The piece features a sophisticated black lacquer finish adorned with a rich narrative landscape of traditional figures, pagodas, and lush botanical motifs rendered in muted earth tones and delicate gold leaf filigree. Its elegant, serpentine tray-top silhouette and slender, tapered legs evoke the high-glamour aesthetic of the Hollywood Regency era, offering a perfect blend of Eastern influence and 20th-century luxury. The two-tier design provides structural depth while maintaining a refined architectural profile. Measuring 25.75 inches wide, 17.25 inches deep, and 26.25 inches tall, this versatile table is perfectly scaled for use in a formal library, as a chic entryway accent, or within a refined bedroom suite. It remains in good vintage condition, displaying significant surface crazing and minor finish wear that bestows a rich, storied patina upon the piece. These authentic characteristics underscore its handcrafted heritage and mid-century provenance, making it a prized find for interior designers and collectors alike. We invite you to add this signed work of functional art to your curated home collection today.
