Description
A vintage onyx vessel, likely mid-20th century, showcases the natural beauty of green and brown onyx in a compact, bulbous form. The vessel measures approximately 4.75 inches in width and depth, with a height of 5 inches, making it a substantial yet manageable piece. Its surface is characterized by fluid bands of verdant green and earthy brown, interspersed with lighter cream tones, creating a striking visual contrast that highlights the stone's inherent translucence and veining. The top features a gracefully rounded rim, slightly uneven as is typical with hand-carved stone, which adds to its artisanal appeal. The vessel's surface displays minor wear consistent with age, yet retains a pleasing patina, enhancing its vintage charm without compromising its structural integrity. The onyx remains impressively smooth to the touch, with no chips or cracks, indicative of careful preservation. This piece's organic patterning allows it to function both as a decorative object and as a functional vessel. Its visual appeal lies in the harmonious blending of colors and the polished finish that captures and reflects light subtly, further accentuating the depth and richness of the onyx.
