Description
Crafted from wood with a lacquer finish, these vintage Coney Island Men's Swim Club lamps present a striking sculptural form. The lamps are designed as busts, vividly depicting classic striped swim attire, with the text "Coney Island Men's Swim Club" prominently featured. The lacquer finish exhibits a warm patina, enhancing the rich, earthy tones of the wood and emphasizing the detailed carving that captures the muscular contours and texture of the swim suits. The fiberglass components add a lightweight yet durable aspect, seamlessly integrated into the design. The original brass fittings, rising elegantly above the busts, remain intact and functional, contributing a subtle sheen that complements the overall composition. The dimensions, with a height of 32.5 inches, provide a commanding presence, suitable for a variety of interior settings. Minor scuffs and light surface scratches are visible, particularly on the lower sections, consistent with age and adding character to the pieces without detracting from their visual appeal. The robust construction and artistic detailing reflect a thoughtful homage to the nostalgic imagery of Coney Island, making these lamps both functional and evocative conversation starters.
