Description
Crafted from cast iron, this vintage doorstop takes the form of a dignified canine, embodying the robust and functional design typical of early 20th-century decorative objects. Its solid construction is evidenced by the weighty, muscular form, capturing the essence of a watchful dog with upright ears and a curled tail. The surface exhibits a well-earned patina, characterized by areas of rust and paint loss that speak to years of use and age, adding to its authentic vintage appeal. The piece retains its structural integrity, with no visible cracks or repairs, showcasing the durability of cast iron. Notable is the significant surface wear — the iron's grey hue is interspersed with remnants of an earlier finish, suggesting a life of both utility and aesthetic presence. Subtle detailing, such as the pronounced musculature and expressive facial features, highlights the craftsmanship of the period. Measuring 9.25 inches in width, 10 inches in height, and 4.75 inches in depth, its proportions are well-suited for its intended function as a doorstop, while also serving as a decorative statement. This piece is not only practical but also a testament to the enduring charm of vintage cast iron design.
