Description

Carved stone female torso sculpture, dating to the mid-20th century, captures an elegant simplicity of form. Crafted from a robust, dark stone, the sculpture showcases a smoothly rendered surface with a subtle natural patina that enhances its visual depth. The contours of the piece reflect a studied attention to anatomical balance, with a focus on the curvature and posture that conveys a timeless, classical influence. The sculpture sits atop a solid, rectangular stone base, providing stability and a harmonious contrast to the rounded forms above. Minor surface scuffs and small nicks are evident, consistent with age, yet they do not detract from the overall integrity or aesthetic appeal of the piece. The natural imperfections in the stone contribute to its character, while its well-preserved condition speaks to careful handling over the years. Standing at 9.5 inches tall, this sculpture is a striking addition to any collection, embodying both strength and grace. The wood base features a fine grain that complements the stone's texture, grounding the piece with a subtle warmth. Its compact dimensions make it versatile for display, whether as a standalone work or integrated into a broader collection of mid-century art.
