Description
A vintage majolica oyster plate crafted from ceramic, showcasing a harmonious blend of brown and green hues. This plate features a central well surrounded by six deeply molded oyster compartments, each with a richly textured brown glaze that evokes a sense of organic warmth. The vibrant green border, adorned with delicate yellow floral motifs, adds a striking contrast, highlighting the plate's intricate design. The original glaze remains remarkably vibrant, with only minor age-appropriate crazing that attests to its vintage character. No visible chips or cracks are present, though there is slight wear on the base, consistent with gentle use over time. The overall condition of the piece is very good, indicating careful preservation. Measuring 10 inches in diameter and with a height of 0.75 inches, this plate is both decorative and functional. The detailed craftsmanship and aesthetic appeal suggest its potential origin in the late 19th or early 20th century, a period known for the popularity of majolica ware. Its well-preserved state and captivating design make it a desirable piece for collectors and enthusiasts of antique ceramics.
