Description
This striking pair of vintage guardian lions, traditionally known as Foo Dogs, is a vibrant example of mid-to-late 20th-century Chinoiserie decor. Handcrafted from high-quality ceramic, these figures are finished in a brilliant "Sancai" style palette featuring sunny yellow and emerald green glazes with delicate accents of white and pink. Each lion is meticulously detailed, from their playful expressions and textured manes to the intricate scrollwork and bamboo motifs decorating their pedestal bases. Symbolizing protection and prosperity, these figures serve as a classic staple of sophisticated Asian-inspired interiors and Hollywood Regency styling. Measuring 3.25" wide, 2.5" deep, and 8.25" tall, these statues are perfectly scaled for a mantel display, a curated bookshelf, or flanking an entryway console. They are in great vintage condition, displaying minor scuffs and surface blemishes consistent with their age, which imbue the set with an authentic patina and historic charm. Whether used to add a pop of color to a maximalist living room or as a storied addition to an Asian pottery collection, these lions are sure to command attention. Don’t miss the chance to welcome these timeless protectors into your home collection today.
