Description

Crafted in the late 19th century, this George Jones Majolica blossom pitcher exemplifies the vibrant artistry of Victorian ceramics. Bearing the original George Jones mark, this piece is an authenticated creation by the renowned English potter, adding significant provenance and value. The pitcher features a striking turquoise ground adorned with delicately molded pink and white blossoms, set against lush, textured leaves that convey a sense of depth and natural beauty. Below, a rich brown basketweave pattern encircles the base, offering a tactile contrast and grounding the colorful floral motifs. The pitcher stands at 7 inches tall, with a well-proportioned handle that mimics the appearance of twisted wood, seamlessly complementing the floral design. The glaze remains vivid, showcasing the characteristic glossiness typical of majolica ware, while minor age-related crazing adds an authentic touch without detracting from its overall charm. The condition is notably well-preserved, with no visible chips or cracks, and the handle and spout are intact, indicative of careful handling over the years. A piece such as this not only serves as a testament to George Jones's skill and the appeal of Victorian majolica but also offers collectors a tangible connection to the period’s decorative arts.
