Description

Arthur Umanoff's mid-century modern desk and chair set exemplifies his distinctive approach to blending materials and form. Crafted from warm-toned wood, iron, and rattan, this set reflects Umanoff's keen eye for detail and design. The desk features a compact form with a rich wood grain, accented by a single drawer and side shelf, offering practical storage solutions. Its rattan backsplash adds a tactile element, contrasting elegantly with the sleek iron frame that supports the structure with sturdy integrity. The coordinating chair complements the desk with its curved rattan backrest and slatted wooden seat. The iron frame of the chair echoes the desk's design, providing a cohesive aesthetic. The overall condition is very good, with the original wood finish displaying a warm patina that speaks to the piece’s age, while minor surface scuffs lend character without detracting from its appeal. The metal frame remains structurally sound, ensuring both functionality and style. This set captures the essence of Umanoff's design ethos, merging functional simplicity with mid-century elegance. The interplay of materials not only enhances its visual appeal but also secures its place as a quintessential example of Umanoff's contribution to modern design.
