Description

Crafted in the 19th century, this pair of Gothic high back chairs showcases the period's signature ornate woodwork with an original finish that has gracefully aged. The wood displays a rich, dark patina with an intricate grain pattern that enhances the overall Gothic aesthetic. Each chair features a commanding high back adorned with elaborate tracery and pointed arches, evoking the architectural grandeur of Gothic cathedrals. Painted heraldic shields on the back panels add a distinctive touch, their colors subtly muted over time. The armrests, though showing noticeable wear, retain their robust construction and decorative flair with carved circular motifs. The seats, while exhibiting minor surface scratches, maintain their structural integrity, supported by turned legs with casters for added mobility. Visible joinery work speaks to the craftsmanship of the era, with mortise and tenon joints that ensure durability. The chairs stand as a testament to 19th-century design sensibilities, blending functionality with decorative artistry. Despite age-related wear, they remain structurally sound, offering both historical charm and practical seating for the discerning collector.
